Fashion and Eastern Wisdom

Hola! So this blog entry is dedicated to an assignment that our philosophy professor had given us. Basically, we're meant to write blog entries per modules that we will be discussing class.. & this one that you're reading right now is the 1st out of 6 that we have to write.

Blog entry #1 is to write about our module 3 topic: Eastern Philosophers. We also have to relate them to our fashion & style philosophy.. Now at first, I was all, "HOW THE HELL DO YOU DO THAT???" But upon researching.. I actually found it possible.. in fact, I had quite a hard time picking which philosophical insights suited me best. Here's what I decided on per philosophical movement...

The way I see it, the religion in the insight becomes "style". So if my sense of style is true, then that just means that other's sense of style is also true. There will never be such a thing called, "wrong style" because style varies from the huge range of unique individuals who show case it.

For personal style, we shouldn’t follow nor try to lead. I reckon it's all about dressing up for ourselves. Because personal style is being able to have already found yourself & showing the world who you are through means of clothing & design.

--

I reckon this is my favorite because this is the reason why I dress up nicely every day. Or at least try my best to. You never know what could happen today, so you might as well look nice while you’re at it because tomorrow is never guaranteed.

--

This insight relates to me the most because I shifted from BS-Entrepreneurship to FDM. It’s the greatest decision I’ve ever made. & I think to be able to succeed in a career, you need to be able to love what you are doing. So you can nurture it and sacrifice for it, then surely it will give back to you.

--

So there we go, my 1st ever attempt at relating Eastern philosophies to fashion. I leave you all with my favorite quote, just because... "& the day came when the risk of staying tight in the bud became greater than the risk it took to blossom." - Anais Nin.

Stay safe, xx

  1. Dude, hardcore blog, man. Ditto! I totally feel your vibe. :D I really think that style should be personal and can never be taken away from you.

    I really like this reflection:
There will never be such a thing called, "wrong style" because style varies from the huge range of unique individuals who show case it.

    Awesome, awesome. :D
